Being a quantity surveyor is more than possessing good numeracy skills to handle the financila demand. A QS is also expected to have the basic knowledge of building structure. Only by having the relevant knowledge and experiences, QS can be aware of the cost implications of engineers' design, which can then advice engineers to produce a workable design achieving economy of materials.
