CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY 2

My Construction Technology 2 in Sem 2 was a informative one. The lecturer was indeed an experience and patient educator where Mr. Chiew will show us very relevant photos and videos to have a clear picture of what we've learnt after every lecture.

This module enable the development and establishment of a base knowledge of the fundamental principles of  design  and  technology.  Such  base  knowledge  enable  us to  appreciate  the  decisions  made  on design, functional element,   selection    and the rational and  economic   use  of resources.   It also explains   the followings topics which include :

1) fundamentals of piled foundations

2) deep excavation

3) formworks

4) scaffoldings

5) shoring and underpinning

6) partition and suspended ceilings

7) portal frames

8) precast concrete; and

9) steel roof trusses.

Upon the completion of entire CT2, I am able to

1. Interpret the logical sequences of concepts and alternative construction practices, demonstrating the variation in  material applications.

2. Apply current legislation and standard with particular attention to safety and correct use of materials.

3. Analyse   construction   nature   problems   systematically   and   synthesise   solution   through   critical evaluation.

Throughout this module, I have practiced Discipline Specific Knowledge. Accumulating all the knowledges I've learnt throughout Year 1, I was taught to put theories into practices, such as exams and assignments. The video above is one of our assignment, where we were to explain anything related to construction. Through this video assignment, we are able to apply what we have learnt and explain it through the means of video to be more interesting and informative.

I always understand that Lifelong Learning is an essential part of life. Other than paying attention in the measurement lecture, I've also made my own revision after class to gain more insights about the topic. When I faced any queries or problems, I'll approach the lecturer : Mr Chiew, who is willingly sacrifice his time to answer the students' doubts effectively. By concentrating in class, attending the tutorial classes, having a kind lecturer that passionate in educating his students, in addition with my eagerness to learn indepently, I am able to locate, extract, synthesise and utilise information effectively.

Similar to other classes, CT2 always have us to squeeze our brain when we attempt to understand the procedure of piling and others. Thus, I believe our Thinking and Problem Solving Skills will increase over years upon graduation and prepare us to the real life world.
