SOFTWARE APPLICATION FOR QUANTITY SURVEYING
Technology is taking over the workforce, and even a quantity surveyor needs to be able to effectively use Microsoft Excel, and more importantly, BIM software which brings so much benefits and convenience to quantity surveyor's job, without substituing QS's role in financial consulting and solving construction disputes. The two software we have learnt are Cost X and Buildsoft. Both of them are easy and convenient to use, with their own limitations. Regardless, we should find the software which we find the most comfortable and suitable with, be opened to various technologies and not restricted to the conventional way of doing things.

Through this subject, I am able to distinguish the different types of BIM software available in the market and their limitations in usage. Furthermore, I can also make use of the appropriate software as a tool to complement their skills and knowledge in thediscipline of study such as in the preparation of Bills of Quantities, Estimating, Tendering and Progress Payments.
