In this module, we have learnt the stages of dewatering in basement excavation where water table is high above the basement floor level; various types of retaining walls, drainage, roadwork, common industrialized building systems, curtain walls for multi-storey commercial buildings, façade system, prestressing involving pretension and post-tension method, bridge construction, tension membrane roof and steel roof trusses.

Taylor's Graduate Capabilities

1) Discipline Specific Knowledge

One of the topics we learnt in this semester is IBS ( Industrialised Building System ). According to CIDB (2003), compares to conventional construction method, the IBS technology has so many advantages, which include cost and time saving as well as quality promised. Although the long-introduced IBS has promised to solve and improved the current construction method and scenario, but the IBS method has been low in gaining popularity, partly due to lack of awareness and coordination among the relevant parties. In this module, we are fortunate to aware of this system to encourage adoption of IBS in our projects future.

2) Lifelong Learning

Other than that, the group assignment that are required us to visit a building site or more to observe and video any one construction process practiced in Malaysia. The site visit has also enabled us to have an on site experience, which certainly improve learning by experience.

3) Thinking and Problem Solving Skills

During classes, lecturer will ask us some questions relevant to our discussed topic that required us to relate it to what we have seen in everyday life, on highways, or when we  pass by construction sites. Such activity trains us to become more observant to construction work around us daily.

4) Interpersonal Skill

While managing group assignment, we have to delegate the works fairly to ensure everyone's involved in this video making process. Besides, we I also learnt that communication is important to prevent any misunderstanding that may cause conflicts.
